Office Cleaning Tips and Tricks

No matter if you’re going to the office or working from home, in order to be productive, your work environment needs to be clean and tidy. However, especially commercial office cleaning is more important than that. Since an office is shared by multiple people at once, it’s easy to get it dirty and disorganized. Neglecting office cleaning can lead to decreased productivity, unmotivated employees, and even loss of clients in the long run.

With that being said, here are a few office cleaning tips and tricks that can help you keep your work environment in the best shape:

1. Build a clean office culture

If you can make all your employees understand the importance of office cleaning, then it will be so much easier to maintain a fresh workplace environment. If you make it fun, your colleagues will be motivated to help clean up whenever they can. You can give out awards for the cleanest workstation. Or teach people about how important it is to clean up after ourselves, and so on.

2. Keep cleaning supplies available for everyone

Even if having enough cleaning supplies for everyone might seem costly, it will be worth it in the long run. The less effort your employees have to put in to maintain the office clean, the more inclined they will be to help. With that being said, make sure that at least in the common areas have cleaning supplies at hand. This way, in case there is a spill, for example, it will be so much easier to clean up before it dries and stains.

3. Don’t forget about about the trash

Taking out the trash daily should be a top priority. Leaving it for too long can become a health hazard, not to talk about the smell that can build up. A good strategy is to let everyone take turns being responsible for this task, and if there are waste bins near a person’s workstation, they should be the ones who make sure it’s cleaned every day. There is nothing more offputting for a potential client than the smell of trash as soon as they come into your office.

4. Include floors and lights in your office cleaning plan

You should make sure to sweep and mop the floors in your office at least twice a week, especially in areas with high traffic. If this is neglected, the dirt can float into the air and get on other surfaces, triggering allergic reactions or worse. The same goes for the lights in the ceiling, even though these are harder to clean. While you don’t have to clean the lights as often, you shouldn’t overlook the task. Try to do it at least once a month, to prevent dangerous dust particles from getting into the air.

5. Set clear guidelines for office cleaning

When everyone is on the same page about the importance of having a clean work environment, you can create a guideline for each employee to follow. This can include cleaning workstations, screens, keyboards, and so forth, which each employee can do for themselves. These tasks shouldn’t take too much time to complete, or else everyone would feel overwhelmed. However, making everyone an active part of office cleaning will make maintenance so much easier and efficient.

With all this being said, if you ever feel overwhelmed by keeping up with the cleaning schedule, you can always go to a professional cleaning company. They can help you deep clean your office and even disinfect everything, especially when people are out on holiday. Working with professionals from time to time can help you spruce up the office and make it a perfect work environment for everybody.
